Special Weather Statement

Statement as of 2:01 AM MST on November 20, 2014

Expires 6:00 PM EST on December 20, 2014

... Significant snow expected across the western mountains
beginning Friday night and lasting through Sunday morning...

Moisture will be on the increase from the eastern Pacific starting
today... continuing through Saturday night. Light areas of snow will
begin to fall across the mountains of western Wyoming starting
later today... continuing off and on through the day Friday. The
mountains will see between one and three inches of snowfall with
this initial system... with a trace to and inch at lower elevations.
However... after midnight Friday... a much stronger and more moisture
laden system will run into the western mountains with periods of
moderate to heavy snowfall at times... lasting through Saturday
night. Heaviest snowfall is currently expected between mid day
and midnight on Saturday before tapering off to light snow showers
by Sunday morning. The mountains will likely see 8 to 12 inches of
new snowfall with this second system through Sunday morning... with
the Star and Jackson valleys receiving between 3 and 6 inches.
Additionally... as winds of 10 to 25 mph come around to the west
to southwest with this system... favored windward slopes will see
as much as 14 inches of the white stuff over the same period of
time.

All travelers and outdoor enthusiasts should be prepared
for this snow event along with the possibility of delayed
travel... particularly over the region's mountain passes. Please
check back with the National Weather Service in Riverton through the
rest of the week for future forecasts and statements concerning
the this event.
